Getting started
What is Zealia?+
Zealia is an AI-powered litigation workspace for lawyers anywhere. It combines matter management, a document vault, AI-assisted research and drafting, a trial toolkit, live-hearing assistance, case analysis, and narrative building — grounded in the law and procedure of the jurisdiction your matter sits in.
How do I create an account?+
Sign up with your email address from the homepage. After verifying your email you will be guided through a short onboarding flow to create your workspace (solo practice, law firm, or enterprise). Every new workspace receives 50 complimentary credits, valid for 30 days, which you can extend twice by 30 days each from Billing — no card required.
Can I invite my team?+
Yes. Organisation owners and admins can add members from Admin → Team. Solo plans include 1 seat, Chambers up to 25 seats, and Enterprise unlimited seats — all sharing the workspace's credit pool.
Plans & credits
What plans are available?+
You can start pay-as-you-go with the Starter pack — $15 for 500 credits, no subscription. Monthly plans are $65 (Solo), $295 (Chambers) and $795 (Enterprise), and every plan includes every feature — litigation tools, contract playbooks and contract review, the AI Assistant, research memos, drafting and the document vault. Tiers: Solo (1 seat, 1,500 credits/month), Chambers (up to 25 seats, 8,000 credits/month), and Enterprise (unlimited seats, 25,000 credits/month). Each plan includes a monthly credit allowance; unused credits roll over for up to one additional month. Prices are the same in every country.
Which currency am I billed in?+
All prices are in US dollars and billed in USD, wherever your firm is based. Your card provider applies its own exchange rate if your account is in another currency.
Does Zealia work in my jurisdiction?+
Yes — Zealia is built for lawyers worldwide. Set your default jurisdiction once in Settings (or per matter) and every answer, draft and analysis grounds itself in that legal system automatically. US federal and state coverage is the deepest; other jurisdictions are answered from live, linkable sources.
What is a credit?+
A credit is the unit Zealia uses to meter AI work, at $0.03 each. A research question costs 2 credits all-in — that single charge covers the answer plus any authority and live-source checks it needs. An answer drawn from your own uploaded documents costs 3, a draft 6, a case analysis 8, an evidence timeline reconstruction 40, a cross-border enforcement review 50, an autonomous research memo 60, an opposing-counsel simulation 75, and a whole-matter deep review starts at 150. Transcription is charged on the speech actually recorded. Hover any action button to see its cost, and each Assistant answer shows the credits it used.
What happens when I run out of credits?+
Zealia is strictly prepaid on every plan, including Enterprise, so AI actions are paused when your balance reaches zero — you are never billed after the fact and never run up an overage. You can top up instantly from Billing with a credit pack, or enable auto top-up so your workspace never stops mid-matter. Your data, matters, and documents are never locked or deleted.
Where do I see my balance?+
Your remaining credits sit in the account menu at the top right of the app; hovering it also shows roughly how many questions that balance buys. Analytics breaks down where credits went, by feature and by matter.
Do unused credits roll over?+
Yes — unused monthly allowance rolls over for one month. Rolled-over credits expire if not used within that additional month.
Do some plans leave out features?+
No. Every plan, the free trial and pay-as-you-go packs include every tool. Plans differ only in monthly credits, team seats and support. You can change plan any time from Billing; upgrades are charged pro-rata.
What in-house tools are included?+
Playbook Studio, where you set your company's contract positions by picking options (governing law, liability cap, indemnities, payment terms and more), and Contract Review, which checks a contract against your playbook and returns a Pass / Deviates / Severe report with replacement clauses. A contract review costs 12 credits.
Explore the in-house tools →How do I change or cancel my plan?+
Manage your subscription from Billing. Upgrades take effect immediately; downgrades and cancellations apply at the end of the current billing period.
Features
How does the AI Assistant work?+
The AI Assistant answers legal research questions grounded in authorities it has actually retrieved and can link. It takes the governing jurisdiction from your question and your matter — United States federal and state coverage is the deepest, and other jurisdictions are answered from live, linkable sources. Attach matters and vault documents for context. Every AI response should be verified by a qualified lawyer before reliance.
What is the Case Analysis engine?+
Case Analysis evaluates a matter and produces score gauges, procedural issues, evidence gaps, an evidence map (including a spider-web mind-map view), and a box of relevant authorities with links. Analyses are saved per matter so you can revisit previous runs.
What are Narratives?+
Narratives help you construct and compare case theories — prosecution and defence storylines, timelines, and supporting facts — preserved in history so you can iterate across versions.
What is the Document Vault?+
The Vault stores your matter documents securely. Uploaded documents can be indexed for retrieval (RAG) so the AI can answer questions grounded in your own files.
Does Zealia support live hearings?+
Yes. Live Hearing provides real-time transcription and assistance during proceedings. Transcription is charged in credits based on the speech actually recorded, so silence is not billed.
Can AI agents connect to Zealia (MCP)?+
Zealia exposes an MCP endpoint so authorised AI agents can list matters and vault documents on your behalf, acting as your signed-in user with the same access controls. Connections require your explicit OAuth consent.
Security & privacy
Is my client data confidential?+
Yes. Data is isolated per organisation with row-level access controls, encrypted in transit and at rest. Zealia does not use your matter content to train models. See the Privacy Notice for details on how data is handled.
Who can see my workspace data?+
Only members of your organisation, according to their role (owner, admin, member). Owners and admins manage membership from Admin → Team.
How do I secure my account?+
Use a strong password from Settings → Security, where you can also change your password, reset via email, and sign out of all sessions.
Can I delete my account and data?+
Yes. Settings → Danger Zone lets you permanently delete your account along with your content. This action is irreversible.
Troubleshooting
I was blocked mid-action with an 'out of credits' message+
Your workspace balance reached zero. Open Billing to buy a top-up pack or enable auto top-up, then retry the action.
The AI gave an answer that seems wrong+
AI output can be incomplete or inaccurate. Refine your question, attach the relevant matter or documents for context, and always verify against primary sources. Zealia is an assistant, not a substitute for professional judgment.
Where can I see my usage?+
Analytics shows credit consumption by feature, with CSV export for your records.
